I’ve had this camcorder for about two weeks now. It came with two batteries, a 1g class 6 card, carry bag, usb cord, hdmi cord, charger and the usual software disc. I have shot a number of impromtu clips with it in a variety of lighting conditions and, so far, I am quite pleased with the results. The battery life is brilliant, the zoom works fine, the picture quality is excellent in most lighting conditons. Things go grainy in low light, but that is understandable. The built in camera mic works well, but I sure wish it had an external mic input. The still picture quality is OK for quick shots, but a dedicated still camera will do much better. The image stabilization is electronic and helps a small, but it is no substitute for a tripod. I ordered two Transcend 8g class 6 cards with the camera and they work fantastic. I have yet to shoot enough video to fill one up, but I reckon a couple of hours on each one will be about right. I haven’t used the 1g card that came with it yet.

The MP4 format is OK to edit if you have the right software. Copying files to your computer is very simple. You don’t need to connect the camera via usb, but you can if you want to. A simple card reader will save you the distress of using the camera. Once the files are on your hard disk, you can import them into software and edit. A word of caution, I am using WinXP Pro. Win Movie Maker won’t handle MP4 files. Niether will the Win Vista version (have that on my laptop). The software that comes with the camera has a rudimentary editor, but I don’t like it at all. I have Adobe CS2 Premier Pro, but that older version won’t do MP4 either. I have been evaluating several low cost (around [...]) software packages that will do MP4. So far, the one I like best is Cyberlink’s Power Dierctor 8 Ultra. It is simple to use and produces excellent results. I also tried Adobe Premier Elements 8, Sony Vegas and a few others, but all of them had more drawbacks than Power Director. I could convert the MP4 files to AVI with some software I already have (AVS4You), but that is a pain in the butt. Direct editing of the files is far more desirable.

In small, this small camcorder will do a lot for you. With only the addition of an external Mic input, it would be ideal.

This camcorder is fantastic! I does exactly what I expected and more. The price is incredible. I’ve played around with it for a while and the only problem I can find is that when you zoom in with the 30x optical, it’s hard to keep a steady hand, but that’s the same with any camera. Awesome that it comes with two batteries, A/V cable, HDMI cable, USB cable, charger, 1GB SD card, and a case. I certainly suggest this camera.

I bought this to take with me on a trip and I was amazed at the results. The video is much better than what I used to get with my bulky ancient VHS camcorder. It is very simple to use, and is very user friendly. The videos play fantastic on my laptop which thankfully has a SD card slot. The battery life is fantastic. With the extra battery that comes with the camera, you will have six hours of recording time each time you charge the two batteries. You do need a tripod when using the zoom beyond “normal” zooming. But, I have foundif you hold the camera with one hand and the screen with the other when recording, you can minimize camera shake without a tripod. This is an brilliant camera for the price!

I wanna keep this review small and simple but I hope it helps. This camcorder can be described in 1 word, FANTASTIC!!!. First off, I wanna say that I was shocked when I opened the box and found a carrying case, a mini HDMI cable, a spare battery, and a 1 GB SD card that came with the camcorder and just receiving the extra battery alone was worth it. The reason I bought this camcorder was because I needed an HD camcorder to shoot videos to YouTube. This camera shoots in 1280×720 HD at 30 FPS and looks very crisp when playing back on your HDTV with the included Mini HDMI cable. This camcorder also shoots excellent still images at 2 megapixels but I would recommend only using this for videos as it was not meant to be used as a camera to take pictures.

One major plus about this camcorder is its autofocus capabilities. This camcorder has very excellent autofocus for being at this low price. The camcorder adjusts very quickly and is overall up to par with some higher-end HD camcorders.

One downsides I have is with the software that is included. It is not the best software but you really don’t need to use the software included with the camcorder to pull any videos from the camcorder or to edit any of the video. the only plus about the software is that it has export to Youtube which is okay if you just send the video without any form of editing.

Another downside I have is with the image stabilization at long range. The camcorder tends to look like it is shaking when you’re zoomed in all the way.

Overall, this camcorder is worth the money you will spend on it but it doesn’t have all the bells and whistles of an HD camcorder such as the Canon Vixia HF200. I see it as a plus that Sanyo really includes the extra carrying case, mini HDMI cable, spare battery, and 1 GB SD card.

I bought this Sanyo about a month ago and WOW, it is Fantastic. I haven’t any device that is so simple to use. It’s very user friendly. And this spoke alot since I am one of those that is not very techie. The accessories bundle that it came with is a ++++. My wife like it since it is tiny and cute and does what it supposed to do. The quality of the video is brilliant (our opinion anyway). The price $140 was brilliant for us. 5 stars all the way. Fantastic job Sanyo!!!!…..

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2E5KGVCWZXRF3 *(I Included a video I filmed & performed professionally with this cam) – I really like this cam…….It was a gift but, I use it for video editing and its fantastic compared to my other Expensive cam………..and it’s video quality is fantastic, if you want better quality try the class 6 cards and you will get better quality, But it’s already fantastic with a class 2 card. Make sure you set it to the right zoom for HD 30x or Digital zoom……….If recorded Indoors you will need proper lighting & for a steady shot as usual you need a Tripod. Not really excellent with pictures but Overall the best cam for video and lightweight!!!! -17Musicsouth Ent.

I bought this camera off of Woot, I’ve only had it about 3 days so far. But, the video quality is awesome! The firmware (Software) on the camera is very simple to use/configure – didn’t even need to look at the manual to start using it. I recorded several small videos over the weekend and then simply copied them from the camera (using the included USB cable) to my Windows Home Server (WHS). Then, was able to play the video directly from our XBox 360 without any conversion/tinkering necessary. The quality of the resulting video looked gorgeous on our 1080p HD TV.

As soon as you connect the Camera to the computer, it prompts you how you want to connect (i.e. Card Reader mode, etc.) Once selected, a new drive letter appears and you can simply drag-drop the video/pictures where you want to save them.

I’ve tried other cameras, including a Flip HD (~$200) and a Sony (~$900) – returned both of them. For the price, this camera is a sweet deal and I highly recommend it. The included accessories are excellent quality, not something I would have expected for this price. Even the camera case is well built and not at all like what I thought it would be (not cheap materials).

Take this review for what it is, a user who’s had the camera for just a small time. If it continues to function as it has so far, it is a fabulous deal. Looking forward to doing some fancy video editing using Pinnacle Studio HD with this camera soon.
